Mike Simmonds - Universal Blind Comedian

In April 2011, Mike Simmonds presented a program at the Saskatoon Public Library on Stand Up Comedy, and it was well-received by a mixed audience of adults, teens, and seniors.

The event consisted of a stand up routine, followed by some stories about the life of a stand up comedian and some tips on how to get started in stand up. Mike’s comedic routine was fresh and funny, and his stories about how he got into stand up as a career were poignant and personable.

He had clearly made a connection with the audience, because four different people of varying ages took him up on his offer. It was very heartwarming. When the event was over, people stayed to talk to Mike and to each other for well over a half an hour, which doesn’t usually happen at a Library program.
